I am currently recruiting on behalf of a global US Insurer, who are looking for a Senior Claims professional who would be keen to transition into a Senior Wordings position, and build a career within this. My client is open to a variety of classes of business due to their continued growth, but would be focusing on Marine, Property and Casualty.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone wanting a new challenge. 7+ years experience within Claims is required as well as some understanding of Wordings/Contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the development and control of policy wordings across all lines of business, ensuring regular review and robust drafting.
  • Work with underwriters and brokers to ensure that slips and wordings meet quality assurance requirements before policy inception.
  • Review, negotiate, and agree on inwards insurance manuscript wordings for multiple classes in collaboration with underwriters and brokers.
  • Promptly and satisfactorily resolve any wording and documentation issues that arise.
  • Manage and facilitate the amendment and drafting of policy wordings to align with underwriters' desired coverage parameters.
  • Report any wordings and documentation issues to underwriters and managers on an exception basis to ensure awareness and appropriate action.
  • Build and maintain relationships with brokers and underwriters to facilitate quick resolution of wordings and documentation issues.
  • Maintain consistency and integrity within wordings to ensure accuracy and clarity.
  • Review and provide input on outwards reinsurance wordings in coordination with the purchasing underwriter and Outwards Reinsurance Manager.
  • Represent the company at relevant industry forums and seminars to stay updated on changes and identify opportunities or threats to underwriting operations.
  • Act as a technical reference point for underwriting business units, providing clarity and advice on technical issues.
  • Develop and maintain training materials and provide presentations to ensure compliance with Market Reform initiatives and technical requirements, as well as provide induction training to new staff.
  • Maintain a review of outstanding wordings to ensure timely follow-up and chase any overdue wordings.
