Job description

A global insurance organisation with a strong reputation and solid financial outlook is looking to hire an Indirect Tax Manager in to the business. The team manages the direct and indirect tax affairs of the Group and provides support and assistance on tax issues affecting them, as well as managing the process for delivery of centralised tax returns and payment in multiple jurisdictions across the globe.

The main purpose of the role is to manage the day-to-day UK VAT affairs of the Group by taking responsibility for the preparing and filings of VAT returns and providing technical support to the other functions of the Group; being the go-to contact on any VAT issues and queries (including overseas offices); supporting the business on VAT aspects of cross-directorate projects; ensuring compliance with the Groups risk and governance requirements.

  • Act as principal preparer of the Groups quarterly VAT returns.
  • Act as principal preparer of other UK VAT compliance obligations, including the annual adjustment and capital goods scheme adjustment.
  • Provide VAT support and advice to other departments on VAT issues, queries and cross-directorate projects.
  • Provide VAT/GST support and advice to overseas offices where required.
  • Maintain VAT procedures and other key controls within the VAT risk and governance framework.
  • Liaise with HMRC and on VAT-related issues and queries.
  • Support with lobbying and industry group representation on VAT issues which impact the Corporation.

The ideal candidate will be well versed in all aspects of Indirect Tax and will ideally have worked in complex and global organization. You Need the ability to manage and resolve VAT accounting issues in a commercial manner and will have a pro-active approach to identifying problems. A professional tax or accountancy qualification is preferred (ACCA, ACA, CTA).
