I am currently recruiting for a leading Syndicate who are seeking a Team Leader to join their Cyber Risks team on an initial 6M FTC with the view to be extended.

This position will be overseeing a team of 8 within the Cyber Underwriting team, based in Barcelona. The ideal candidate would have some experience in a Team Lead/Supervisor type role within insurance (Underwriting is a big bonus). My client is looking for someone who is fluent in Spanish & English.

You will be responsibile for managing a team of Underwriting Assistants with the Cyber department and get involved with Underwriting Support tasks.

Day Rate: up to €250 per day (inside IR35)

Office: Hybrid (2 days in the office, 3 from home)

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for assigning tasks across your team of Underwriting Assistants (UAs) and Technical Underwriting Assistants (TUAs).
  • Ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are consistently achieved, and communicate any resource limitations to your Operations Manager.
  • Regularly review, update, and communicate SLAs in response to evolving business needs.
  • Maintain ownership of the team's workflow tool, ensuring data is accurate, up-to-date, and reliable.
  • Monitor team performance to ensure output meets expectations, addressing any performance issues promptly and effectively.
  • Lead regular team meetings with UAs and AUs to discuss capacity, training needs, and workflow updates.
  • Chair or participate in recurring meetings as required by the Operations Manager, acting as a deputy when needed.
  • Continuously evaluate team responsibilities to determine whether tasks should remain in-house or be outsourced. When appropriate, collaborate with the Operations Manager to create and implement outsourcing plans.
  • Create and manage personal development plans for each team member, reviewing progress regularly and incorporating them into bi-annual performance reviews.
  • Identify recurring errors and training gaps. Collaborate with Technical UAs to design and deliver tailored training sessions, and track performance improvements.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for process updates and system changes, including participation in system user groups.
  • Acquire and maintain the knowledge required to perform all duties of UAs and TUAs as needed.
  • Provide accurate and timely management information to senior leadership for business discussions.
  • Prepare and deliver weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports, covering team output, controls, workflow, capacity, and platform metrics.
  • Create ad hoc reports, presentations, and marketing materials for senior managers and internal stakeholders as requested.
  • Deliver a professional and responsive service to brokers through in-person meetings, written communication, email, and phone.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and external clients, ensuring all queries are addressed accurately and promptly.
