HFG are currently recruiting for a leading Insurer who are seeking a Medical Underwriter to join their growing team.

This role will entail Underwriting Income Protection, Life, Critical Illness and Disability products and the successful candidate should have an Underwriting Authority of or near £1.5m Life, £675K Critical Illness and £60K Income Protection.

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrating expertise in Income Protection, Life, Critical Illness, and disability products
• Making fair and informed underwriting decisions based on appropriate evidence
• Reviewing applications not accepted by the online system and assessing medical and financial risks
• Knowledge of insurance industry standards and practices
• Collaborating with various departments and partners in a positive manner
• Contributing to best practices for customer and colleague satisfaction
• Handling escalated cases and supporting the complaints resolution process
• Mentoring and training less experienced underwriters
• Identifying opportunities for process improvements and innovation
• Displaying strong problem-solving skills, decision-making abilities, and risk management awareness
• Exemplifying company values and demonstrating organizational and time management skills
