Most people seem to be tired, drained and ready for a break in the run up to Christmas before making a fresh start in 2017. Are you one of those people who starts January with good intentions for the year ahead and then by March have slipped back into the same routine? Here are a few tips to give you a chance to make 2017 the best year and change your life.
Take some time out for yourself
Be kind to yourself. We live in a fast paced world where we never stop. Take some time out, assess how your year was and what you need to do differently in 2017 to be successful. Ensure that you reward yourself if you have had a good year and be proud of any achievements.
Write it down
To give yourself the best chance of having a great 2017, write a list of what has worked well for you in 2016, what has made you excited and given you joy and satisfaction. You should then write a list of all the things you want to change that do not add value to your life and will give you the freedom to do what you want to do.
If you are stuck in a job, career, company or environment that you don’t enjoy – change it! You spend more time at work than you do at home so make sure you enjoy going to work each day. Nobody can love every Monday but you should have more days you enjoy being at work than not. It is easy to find yourself in a rut and too afraid to make a change, but believe in yourself and be brave. Ask for the promotion, change jobs, back yourself.
Use your time wisely
You get one life, and too many of us spend too much time procrastinating over simple tasks that could be accomplished in half the time. Don’t stay in the office just for face time, don’t work longer hours just work smarter, think about what you waste time doing and work out how to be faster and more efficient. Challenge yourself.
We have loved working with all of our clients and candidates this year. Thank you for all of your support, advice, business and enjoyment that we have had in 2016.
Have a great Christmas and we look forward to a wonderful 2017.
