On Wednesday 18th November, HFG held their third Women in Insurance event at Bedales Wine Bar in Leadenhall Market.
The evening commenced with a sparkling reception followed by a welcome speech from HFG’s Director, Will Gallimore. HFG’s Head of Marketing, Mei Ling Reddaway then provided an introduction to the evening, highlighting key diversity topics raised in the press and from the industry’s inaugural Dive In Festival held in September this year.
We were delighted to have Netsai Mangwende, UK Finance Director at AIG and Alison Walters Senior Manager / General Insurance & Protection Sector at the FCA, who spoke about their experiences of diversity and inclusion, observations from the industry and suggestions and advice on how to progress your career within the insurance sector. A number of key points and reflections were also covered in the Q&A session.
Following the speakers, Angelo van Dyk – a wine expert from Bedales started the wine tasting session where all of the wines sampled in the tasting had been carefully selected from vineyards run by female winemakers.
HFG’s Head of Audit & Compliance, Charlotte Fry closed the evening, thanking everyone for attending and announcing the raffle draw. Tickets had been sold throughout the evening, with many prizes up for grabs including spa vouchers, chocolate and wine. £330 was raised for Target Ovarian Cancer – thank you to everyone who bought tickets and well done to the winners!
Mei Ling commented; ‘At HFG we continuously work with our clients and candidates to provide them with useful opportunities outside of the workplace for networking and updates on key industry issues. We have already had some positive feedback and due to the success of this year’s event we are hoping to develop our Women in Insurance network in 2016.’
We are planning for the next Women in Insurance networking event In March next year to coincide with International Women’s Day on 8th March 2016. If you would like to register your interest for our next event or become one of our speakers in the future please do get in touch.
