City of London Traineeship Celebration Event hosted by The Brokerage Citylink

On Tuesday 8th September, HFG attended the City of London’s business traineeship celebration event, run by The Brokerage Citylink.

The traineeship has been running for over a decade and focuses on giving young people in the City of London the opportunity to take part in a traineeship placement over the summer. This year, the celebration event took place at Normura’s City of London office on the river.

The event opened with a series of speeches from representatives from The Brokerage Citylink; who run the traineeship scheme where over 60 City of London businesses take part including; Hiscox, UBS, Beazley, HSBC and HFG.

The Lord Mayor Alan Yarrow continued with an address about the programme, before handing out outstanding achievement awards to trainees and businesses who took part in this year’s process. Congratulations to the winners which included:

Employer Newcomer – CNA Hardy
Employer of the Year – Beazley
Trainee of the Year – Arbnor Beciri (Société Générale)
Highly Commended Trainee of the Year – Amal Dahoum (Hiscox)
Project Champion – Pedrum Partowi from William Blair International

HFG take part in the traineeship programme every year which includes putting the trainees through a recruitment system similar to what they would experience in the ‘real world’. This involves writing cover letters, CVs, interviewing and taking part in review sessions.

The experience is designed in a way that it gives the trainees an insight about the recruitment experience, what is expected and what is required from an employer.

Clients are supported throughout the process by The Brokerage Citylink who help to shortlist candidates, prepare them for interviews and conduct regular review meetings with the placement companies.

HFG are pleased to have supported the initiative for a third Brokeragesconsecutive year. Below is a testimonial from our latest trainee Carolina Poveda-Ocampo;

“During my traineeship with HFG I was able to use skills and experiences that I already had and develop them within an office
environment. I also enjoyed going to external meetings and learning how to use new technologies and systems which I will hopefully be able to use in some capacity in my future career.

My colleagues and managers supported me on a daily basis with my tasks and projects and I was truly made to feel as one of the team at HFG.

I would like to thank them for the opportunity and would recommend them as a company for anyone else looking for work experience in a similar capacity.”

We look forward to supporting the programme next year.
