A well established and widely known Insurance and financial services company is looking for a talented programmer to join their Data Analytics Team as an Integration Engineer.

You will support high quality, current, and resilient IT systems, tools and capabilities that are critical in enabling their business to continue to grow. You will take part in the production processes for data and risk analytics applications, the business change associated with those systems and the delivery of good quality management information to other teams as well as other business units within the company.

Purpose of the role:

  • Develop customised solutions and modules in a range of development tools
  • Work with senior members of the team to define and scope configuration, interfacing and enhancement work with the supplier, project managers, and financial engineers
  • Undertake setup and configuration of the Algorithmics and third party products (database, middle-ware, reporting solutions), troubleshooting, testing (functional and volume) for original installation and system upgrades, including Microsoft SQL server
  • Work with senior members of the team to ensure analysis and requirements are detailed enough to implement solutions efficiently
  • Keep up to date with latest technology and code advances and suggest improvements
  • Design and implement interfaces between source systems and other products
  • Provide new ideas to ensure the batch process is automated and as efficient as possible
  • Monitor / run batches through the batch execution cycle in a BAU environment
  • Ensure that the principles of Conduct Risk are embedded into your day to day operations to deliver good customer outcomes at all times. Ensure that all business processes and internal controls within your role are designed and performed in a way that delivers good customer outcomes and demonstrates effective management of Conduct Risk

Skills Required:

  • Proven experience in Python, R, C# or other programming language and good coding skills
  • Understanding of software or database systems development and product installation, customisation and commissioning.
  • Previous exposure to database essentials (SQL, installation, sizing, performance)
  • Familiarity with using Oracle or MS SQL Server (including SSIS)
  • Understanding of ETL process
  • Previous experience working within team

Beneficial skills:

  • Familiarity with Algo One suite
  • Experience or knowledge of VB, Java, C++, Shell or Risk++
  • Software development life cycle experience, including Agile and Continuous Integration
  • Knowledge of automated unit test design
  • Use of Unix commands / file systems and Unix application installation and shell scripting
  • DBA skills or experience
  • Familiarity with Source control, Issue Management software, and continuous integration software (Perforce, Subversion, JIRA, Hudson, Jenkins)
